Biography
Siena Varano is a public relations student at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, with a minor in sports management, graduating in May 2027.
Her work spans publicity, campaign strategy, partnership planning, and industry research. She most recently interned at YES Network, where she owned publicity for “HexClad Presents Bronx Buds” and the “Sunday Lineup” feature, prepared executives for media interviews, and developed the communications team’s AI program. Earlier experience includes the Syracuse Crunch, CM Communications Agency, and a role as a research analyst on Padel in the USA, an industry report produced by Newhouse in collaboration with Padel 22. She has also developed NIL partnership plans for Syracuse Volleyball, completed SponsorUnited certification work, and interviewed DraftKings’ SVP of Global Communications for a PRSSA project and book publication. She also built a comprehensive PR plan for author Marisa Ramel and Charlesbridge Publishing, as well as a campaign for Rock the Vote.
Siena is committed to growing alongside the PR industry. She reads the news daily and keeps up with how AI is reshaping communications. She has also been learning more about treating communications as a business function, what makes influencer partnerships succeed, and how teams navigate crises and client relationships. She believes in saying yes to new opportunities and stepping outside her comfort zone, as displayed in her travels to over thirty countries. After studying abroad in Florence, she will travel to South Korea in 2027 for a global media thinking short-term program, her second abroad experience through Syracuse.
Outside of work and school, Siena has a longtime passion for art, skiing, and traveling. She is also dedicated to volunteering, including her work with Dayna’s Pink Wishes Foundation and the Mariano Rivera Foundation. She is excited to bring her curiosity and drive to a range of public relations and communications roles.
