Marisa Ramel published by Charlesbridge - Comprehensive PR
This campaign was developed for author Marisa Ramel as part of PRL 425, the PR capstone at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. Marisa’s debut picture book, Landing in a New Pond, follows a young boy who adjusts to a new home with help from 41 ducks. Our goal was to position it as a social-emotional learning resource for children ages 3 to 8 and to partner with organizations that already serve moving families. My role included contributing to the client research report, target persona, and ROSTIR campaign plan, supporting development of the Moving Kit, and serving as section lead for organization and coordination. The campaign included a database of more than 50 vetted partnership leads, three Moving Kit prototypes at different price points, a custom content and personalized email pitches for caregiver organizations, schools and libraries, and relocation services. We also created content for Marisa, from brainstorming campaign ideas to building a content calendar and crafting posts.
This was one of my first projects where the strategy had to become a real client deliverable. Landing a children’s book in the hands of the right families meant understanding several audiences at once, from parents and caregivers to librarians, pediatric offices, and relocation partners, and tailoring one core message to each. With a short timeline and a six-person team working in parallel, I built a shared tracker, set internal deadlines ahead of client check-ins, and kept each workstream aligned. We also used AI tools for partner research and pitch drafting. Through this experience, I strengthened my skills in audience research, campaign planning, partnership outreach, project coordination, and client communication.
